Bowler development - Sport for Life
Sport for Life is a movement to improve sport and physical activity, so more Canadians will get quality training, continue participating and remain active for life.
 
Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) is a multi-stage pathway guiding an individual’s development and experience in sport. Bowls Canada Boulingrin has adopted LTAD to include coaching of every element of bowls, with the participant as the central focus. The coaching encourages and supports the development of skills, knowledge and competition at a rate that suits the individual. The priority is quality sport to encourage life-long participation and involvement.  
 
 
 
Learn To Bowl - The New Bowler
Introductory stage of bowling development. This coaching is meant to instil the love of the game and teach the basic fundamentals of bowls to new participants of any age. An emphasis for participants to roll bowls, develop basic technical skills and achieve enough success to stay with the sport. Participants are social bowlers, enjoying social aspects of practicing, and playing a game with peers while being active
 
 
 
 
 
Train To Play - The Club Competitor
Encouraging bowlers to improve basic skills and begin to use elementary tactics during competition. Bowlers will be coached to improve their performance to compete in leagues or local tournaments. It is important for the athlete to learn skills to progress to the next level while having an enjoyable social experience

Selecting a set of bowls is a very personal thing. What suits one bowler may not suit another so whatever advice you are provided with, you should feel confident in opting for a bowl that feels right for you. It’s a considerable investment ($600-800) so you’ll want to take a number of factors into account before making your choice. Talk to club members with their own bowls or one of our club coaches:
